B.A. (1st Class Honours) in Physics from Lancaster University, U.K.

D.I.C. (Diploma of Imperial College) in Mathematical Physics and Ph.D. in Physics from Imperial College, London, U.K.

Member of the AGU, EAGE, GSH, SEG, and SPE. Member of the SEG Research Committee, and served on the editorial board of Geophysical Prospecting, the International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Science, and The Leading Edge.

Professional interests include rock physics, exploration seismology, reservoir geomechanics, seismic reservoir characterization, unconventional and fractured reservoirs, seismic anisotropy, borehole/seismic integration, pore pressure prediction, stress-dependent acoustics, and advanced sonic logging.

2010 chair of the editorial board of The Leading Edge. Presented the 2010 SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short Course on "Geophysics under stress: Geomechanical applications of seismic and borehole waves".

2013 Honorary Member of the Geophysical Society of Houston "In Recognition and Appreciation of Distinguished Contributions to the Geophysical Profession".
